Acting ARMM governor outlines plans for the region

Isabela, Basilan (11 January) —
The Acting Regional Governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao has outlined his major policies, plans and program for the
region during the Wednesday cabinet meeting.

A press dispatch
from the ARMM’s Bureau of Public Information said that Acting Gov.
Ansaruddin Alonto-Adiong defined his four development plans namely the
ARMM Regional Executive and Legislative Agenda (ARELA) for 2009-2011;
ARMM Regional Halal Food Industry Development Plan ; Sustainability
Plan for Improved Local Governance in ARMM and the Internally Displaced
Persons (IDPs) Early Recovery and Rehabilitation Plan.

Diamadel Dumagay,
executive director of the ARMM’s planning and development office said
the ARELA embodies the policy direction, strategies and priorities of
the region. It includes the programs and projects identified by actors
from the region and provincial levels including the Local Government
Units (LGUIs).

The Halal Food
Industry and Development Plan will make the region as lead region in
the production, processing and marketing of Halal products and
services.

Atty. Asnaira M.
Batua, secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry in the region,
said that to be able to promote more the ARMM Halal Industry, a Halal
Congress will be conducted in March this year.

At the meeting, ARMM
Executive Secretary Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo said Adiong is supportive
and committed to pursue programs and projects identified in the ARELA.

Sinarimbo prodded
the newly designated secretaries to incorporate the programs into their
respective action plans for their first 100 days in office.

The ARMM’s
Department of Public Works and Highways, for its part, started last
week the face-lifting of the ORG compound as its first program on its
first 100 days, DPWH Regional Secretary Titingalingit Sumagayan said.

The beautification
project, which includes installation of lighting facilities similar to
those of the tourist attractive street lamps along the shoreline
(baywalk) of Manila, got an initial fund of P4-million, he said.

For his part, the
Bureau of Public Information (BPI) under Director Ali Macabalang
pressed for the revival of more cordial and coordinative rapport with
the private media done last December 29, the reactivation of the BPI’s
regular website and the revival of the BPI’s Provincial Coordinating
Offices.

The ARMM is composed
of five (5) provinces – Basilan, Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Sulu and
Tawi-Tawi and the cities of Lamitan and Marawi.

For the Education
department of the ARMM they included for the first 100 days work plan
the resolution of the 306 pending appointments of teachers whose
appointment documents are left in Shariff Aguak ARMM Satellite Office.

Sinarimbo directed the DepEd-ARMM to retrieve original transmittal of the appointments of the teachers.

Adiong took his Oath
of Office before DILG Secretary Ronaldo Puno on December 10, 2009 after
former ARMM governor Datu Zaldy Ampatuan was linked to the Maguindanao
massacre. Adiong assumed office at the Office of the Regional Governor
here on December 14, during which he held his first cabinet meeting.
