Baku, Fineko/ The State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan cannot yet form a technical committee on already approved ‘halal’ food standard  (adequate food requirements of Sharia).

Committee’s chairman Ramiz Hasanov says that today the question of creation of this technical committee still remains unresolved.

“Azerbaijan has product standard ‘halal’, but food products still fail to conform to this standard by 100%. That is why it is needed to establish a technical committee to settle the issue. In this case, we want to draw Sharia experts of the Caucasus Muslims Department to the committee’s work,” Hasanov said.

Participation of Sharia experts in recognition of ‘halal’ products is mandatory in the Islamic world.
