Brunei: Brunei keen on M’sia’s real estate, halal meat, hotel projects

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Oil rich Brunei is keen on going into real estate development in a big way in Sarawak, Sabah and Johor.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Tuesday that Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah said the Brunei Investment Agency was also eyeing potential projects in halal meat production and also hotel projects.

Muhyiddin met the Sultan for a closed-door meeting as part of his visit to Brunei to attend the Asean Education Ministers Conference on Wednesday.

Brunei will host the 46th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SeaMeo) Council Conference and the 6th Asean Education Ministers (ASED) Meeting from Jan 26 to Jan 29 at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, Jerudong.

The official opening ceremony is on Jan 27, a press release stated.

More than 250 participants, comprising education ministers, high-level government education officials, and representatives from SeaMeo member countries, Associate Members, Affiliate Members and partners are expected to attend the Conference.

The Seameo member countries comprise Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. The ASED consist of Ministers responsible for education from the Asean member countries.

The Ministers meet annually to discuss agendas related to the development of Framework Plans of Action on Asean cooperation in Education.
