Matrade will leverage on the Halal Malaysia Week by organising the 8th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) from April 6-9 at the same venue as the World Halal Forum and the World Halal Research conference.
The World Halal Forum 2011 (WHF 2011) will examine ways in which ethical and moral values are central to both the Halal industry and Islamic finance for creating a new economic paradigm that will shape the global marketplace over the coming decade.
With the exponential growth of Europe’s Muslim population in recent years, thousands of tons of religiously slaughtered halal meat is now entering the general food chain, where it is being unwittingly consumed by the non-Muslim population.
Food and Hotel Indonesia will return 6-9 April at the Jakarta Exhibition Centre, Kemayoran. The 2011 event, the 11th in the series is the largest to date occupying five halls at the exhibition venue. There will also be a World Halal Forum Dialogue – Indonesia held on the 9th April at the exhibition venue.
Despite the sometimes unfriendly climate for Muslims, Abdalhamid Evans, Project Director of the World Halal Forum, said it is inevitable that a large number of businesses will reach out to Muslim consumers, given the wealth and size of the Muslim population — more than a billion people worldwide — and their presence in the West.
The Forum team brought a distinguished array of speakers and panelists who illuminated the promise and some of the pitfalls of the Halal industries. Halal industries represented were food, finance, cosmetics and personal care products, pharmaceuticals, travel, and logistics. The speakers gave plenty of information for the attendees to weigh, and experts in the audience also contributed to the panel sessions.
The World Halal Forum Europe, UK’s first major halal industry event to date, has, at its second meeting in Europe, sent a strong message to manufacturers and retail chains on the need to respect Muslim consumers in a growing halal market.
MIHAS 2011 will be kicking off its eighth showcase from April 6 to 9 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Aiming to reach out to the global halal players worldwide, MIHAS 2011 is back with a new theme entitled, “Expanding your business horizon”.
The International Halal Integrity Alliance (IHI), The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), The American Halal Association (AHA) and the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) signed an agreement to collaborate on issues relating to Halal Standards development and the formation of a network of national Halal Accreditation bodies to ensure Halal integrity throughout the supply chain at the recent WHF Europe in London.
How is the European halal market developing? It was with this question in mind that an invitation was extended by the World Halal Forum Europe to a two day forum in London about the future of the European halal market.
The forum, UK’s first major halal industry event to date, was set amidst controversial debates on Halal currently taking place in the UK. It was timely as it offered a highly focused platform for industry players, decision makers, and scholars alike to gather under one roof to discuss and deliberate issues and opportunities unique to the European sector and draw their own resolutions.
