Participants will discuss jointly manufacturing a car, adopting policies on energy and environmental issues, observing food standard — halal food in particular — and joint petrochemical plans. Iran, Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Egypt, Bangladesh and Indonesia are D8 members.
The 4th International Halal and Nutritious Food Conference will be held on the 13-14 October 2011 in Istanbul simultaneously with the Halal & Healthy Products Fair by GIMDES with the theme “Importance of a global single standard for increasing Halal food trade”.
The TSE announced in June that it would start issuing halal certificates this fall. According to the TSE, interest from Turkish food companies, mainly meat producers, is high as more than 20 applications for a halal certificate from the TSE came in last month.

Chairman of the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), Hulusi Senturk, said Thursday that a list of standards for “halal food” was accepted by 33 Islamic countries in a meeting that took place in Cameroon on May 16 and 17.
