Saleh Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the
Islamic Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the pivotal role the chamber
plays in the service of the Islamic countries’ economies, manifested in
enhancing trade exchange among member countries of the Organization of
the Islamic Conference (OIC). Reviewing the chamber’s accomplishments, Kamel said the chamber serves as a business and
economic hub for Islamic countries and a representative for the private
sector in these countries.

to UAE ports for local consumption or re-export.” Traders importing food for local consumption in

Dubai or re-export must comply with new regulations issued by the municipality. Starting April 1 food products will not be allowed entry into the UAE without the correct labeling.

This will be a strong consideration for Halal producers who are trying to enter into this lucrative market but will now face the extra charges of relabeling their products.

A US veterinarian and Army major working with an embedded
reconstruction team, Jessica McCoy, is helping poultry farmers regroup.
Through the association, said McCoy, Iraqi farmers are learning how
to raise a quality chicken without any noticeable blemishes. “We are
aiming for the ‘high-end’ poultry market,” said McCoy. “There is a
strong market for fresh (not frozen) poultry slaughtered according to
the halal method that has been raised without hormones or other
‘chemical additives.’”
