The 55 storey Tamani deluxe serviced apartment hotel in the Dubai Marina opened this week, the first of four upcoming Islamic hotels in Dubai operated by KM Holding, part of the Al Rostamani Group.

‘This
is a market niche and hotels in such niches actually tend to do even
better than standard hotels,’ said Khalid A. bin Sulayem, director
general of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing at
the launch today.

reconstruction team, Jessica McCoy, is helping poultry farmers regroup.
Through the association, said McCoy, Iraqi farmers are learning how
to raise a quality chicken without any noticeable blemishes. “We are
aiming for the ‘high-end’ poultry market,” said McCoy. “There is a
strong market for fresh (not frozen) poultry slaughtered according to
the halal method that has been raised without hormones or other
‘chemical additives.’”

Meat and dairy products from cloned animals or their offspring can
enter the UAE from the United States without being labelled as such,
after the US Food and Drug Agency declared them safe for consumption.

Khalid
Al Awadi, head of food safety at Dubai Municipality, told Gulf News GM
foods are low on their priority list. “We’re mainly concerned with
making sure the animals were slaughtered in the halal way and have high
hygienic standards,” he said.




This is an issue that needs more attention by the Shariah scholars to bring more clarity on it for the Halal market.

An industry panel has been set up to issue guidelines on how halal food
is produced and sold, a move that seeks to streamline the estimated
$500 billion a year global market.
