consulting agency targeting the pharmaceutical industry, said halal
accreditation goes beyond the simplified definition of just
ingredients, and also includes business practices that make the product
safe for consumption, manufactured in a clean environment, and in
accordance with ethical standards.

PHARMEX Japan – a Japanese company specialising in
the export of Japanese generic drugs – is looking to build a
pharmaceutical packaging plant in Brunei Darussalam. If successful in obtaining the
halal certification from the certifying authorities of Brunei for
their processing plant and products, the company hopes to be able to
qualify to package the medicines under the Brunei Halal brand, with
Brunei Darussalam as the base of medicine supply to Muslim consumers
around the world, a BEDB press release said.

the country to receive both kosher and halal certification for a
prescription drug.
Malaysia said Thursday it plans to develop a
“halal” meningitis vaccine jointly with Cuba within the next two years. This may the first of many steps to develop a full selection of Halal pharmaceutical products.
