Demand For Halal Products Remain Intact

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) — The demand for Halal
products remains intact despite the current global economic slowdown,
says KasehDia Sdn Bhd’s managing director Jumaatun Azmi.

She said the demand for Halal products, especially food, is still increasing in line with a growing Muslim population.

“In term of growth, the Halal industry is growing. In large
markets, especially European countries, there is a demand for Halal
value added products,” she told reporters after the launch of the World
Halal Forum (WHF) 2009 here today.

KasehDia is the founder and organiser of the WHF.

On the WHF 2009, Jumaatun said about 1,200 delegates are expected to attend the event.

She said this year’s event will see a bigger participation from the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) countries.

The WHF 2009 will be held for two days, starting May 4, at the KL Convention Centre (KLCC).
