Reflecting on the South East Asia’s food sentiments, the 20th edition of Food & Hotel Asia (FHA) 2016 scheduled at Singapore Expo between April 12 and 15, will have a dedicated area for Halal food. Named as Halal Super Market, there will be product showcase, B2B match making, guidance in terms of Halal certification, etc. in the dedicated pavilion.
Singapore Exhibition Services, the organizers of the show, has partnered with DagangHalal, a business marketplace for Halal products and services.
Speaking to Hospitality Biz, Ting Siew Mui, Project Director for Lifestyle Events, Singapore Exhibition Services said that there will be lot of groups from South Africa, Algeria, etc. participating this time around with focus on Halal food. Besides showcase of Halal food products, there will be B2B match making, help and guidance in terms of certification, etc. at the pavilion.
She said that it is an opportunity for Indian exporters to learn about certification procedures, etc. Spread over 103,000 sqm., FHA 2016 will have six different components like Food Asia; HotelAsia; Coffee &Tea, Bakery& Pastry; Hospitality Style and Hospitality Technology. Around 3,300 exhibitors are expected to showcase their products in the four-day expo.
There will also be international level competitions like FHA Culinary Challenge, FHA Barista Challenge, etc. along side the exhibition.
As part of elevating the standards of the Wine exhibition at FHA 2016, Singapore Exhibition Services has joined hands with Messe Dusseldorf of Germany this year. “Messe Dusseldorf are organizers of one of the largest wine shows in Germany. Therefore, lot of new groups expected to participate in the ProWineAsia show this time around,” Mui said.
When asked about Indian participation in FHA 2016, Mui said that there was a small decline in terms of the Indian exhibitors this year because of the show timing. However, she expected more Indian business visitors to the show this year. She said that FHA is not just an exhibition but it is a comprehensive forum for the food and hospitality sector where people get to know the changing trends in the industry. “Visitors get to learn a lot from the seminars, conferences, master classes, etc. Since the show happens once in two years, lot of new product launches happen at FHA,” she said.
