ALAM, June 23 (Bernama) — Potential investors in Selangor Halal Hub in
Pulau Indah, Port Klang are waiting for the types of incentives to be
offered by the state government.
Selangor State Investment Centre Bhd (SSIC) chief executive, Datuk
Mhd Jabar Ahmad Kembali, said investors were expected to implement
their plans once the incentives that would be offered were approved.
“The Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysian
Industrial Development Authority and the Halal Industry Development
Corp are in final stage of discussions on the incentives to be
offered,” he told a media briefing after chairing the committee on
development of the hub here Tuesday.
He said a decision was expected within six months.
Mhd Jabar, however, did not say how many investors would start operations at the hub.
“Most of the entrepreneurs are planning to begin their operations.
We are only waiting for them to get the incentives from the
government,” he said.
Asked whether there were entrepreneurs and investors who had still
not started construction on their lots because there were no decision
on the incentives, he said: “SSIC hopes the matter will be settled fast
so that it will encouraged them to start building their facilities.”
However, he said other factor which has been identified was the
unfavourable economic condition which had forced them to postpone their
plans.
“We believe the investors are well-prepared in their plans,” he said.
