KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 17, 2008) – The International Islamic Fair 2008 (IIF2008), will be in Al-Mukalla, Yemen and has been merged with the “Industry-Yemen’s Future” Conference & Exhibition in what will be the biggest Malaysian commercial delegation to the Republic.
IIF organising chairperson Madam Sabariah Abdullh said: “The decision to move the IIF2008 to Yemen comes as a blessing in disguise as we were invited to merge with the planned Malaysian-Yemeni event.
“We have be bringing our exhibitors to join the Malaysian business delegation led by chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Malaysia Ali al-Attas and will also include participation of the former Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
For this purpose, the IIF2008 will be brought forward to 22-23rd Dec (from 23-25th Dec.) but will still include a trip to Dubai on 24 Dec. for business matching.
Also present at the briefing was Dato’ Fauziah Alias, executive chairman of MY Malaysian Synergy Resources Sdn Bhd, co-organiser of the Yemen event, who described Yemen as a land of business opportunity as the nation was actively pushing for industrialisation in preparation for inclusion into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Sabariah said the Malaysia-Yemen event is receiving maximum support from President of Yemen HE Mr Ali Abdullah Salleh and has received wide coverage by the local media as it coincidences with the Yemeni Industries Conference organised by the Yemeni Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mukalla.
Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Ali Mohammed Mujawar will chair a discussion on Yemen’s industrial plan. In addition, the delegates will be able to interact with Tun Dr Mahathir and the Yemeni officials during these dialogues.
