The Kazakh authorities, including the Spiritual Administration of Muslims, is seeking to stop unscrupulous businesses from preying on consumers who want reliably-produced halal food, Alexander Bogatik writes for Central Asia Online.

Some entrepreneurs across the country have been selling supposed “halal” food, leaving most consumers certain they were buying what the Islam faith demands.

Now however, the country is putting into place a new food standard call the “a dal,” which will require certification.

Up until the present, no one has been watching as to whether products labeled “halal” truly go through the process that is required. In absence of a unified standard however, manufacturers could simply label any food product as halal.
