Muslim and non-Muslim women in search of ‘pure’ products are driving demand for halal cosmetics.

cosmetics_frontMost people associate halal with food. But in Malaysia, beauty companies are capitalising on the growing popularity of another halal product — cosmetics.

Malaysian cosmetics and skin-care companies say they have seen an increase in international demand for halal products over the past decade.

Malaysian businesswoman Seri Udani Mohn first heard of halal cosmetics from a Korean man at a beauty conference in Turkey four years ago.

Today she owns a successful halal cosmetics and skin-care business, Seri Udani Beauty Sdn Bhd, which earns profits of 10 million ringgit (99 million baht) per year.
