Malaysia: Brahim’s Holdings targets Middle East market

KUALA LUMPUR: Brahim’s Holdings Bhd aims to penetrate the Middle East market upon completion of its first factory in Jordan, expected early next month.

Its executive chairman Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad Badawi said on Thursday it was the group’s plan to expand its business to the Middle East and Africa.

“We intend to improve our business in the Middle East as it offers a lot of opportunities, especially for halal food products,” he told reporters after handing over Samsung Galaxy Notes to winners of a contest organised by the company here.

He said the factory in Jordan will manufacture products for the Jordanian military.

“The factory is a joint-venture with the Jordanian government and we hope it will also serve as Brahim’s hub for the Middle East market,” he added.

He said that the Brahim’s Food Japan (BFJ), launched in July this year, has received good response in the Japanese market.

Ibrahim said the group was also looking at Nigeria as a potential market.

“Recently, we were invited by the Nigerian government to set up a facility there to produce halal food,” he added.

He said the Nigerian government would fund the project but nothing had been finalised.

Ibrahim also said the group has targeted to introduce four more Cafes (food and beverage outlets) in Indonesia next year.

“We just introduced our Cafe in Jakarta and aims to add four more next year,” he said.

He added that the group will spend about RM1.5 million to set up each Cafe in Indonesia.

In Malaysia, he said two more Cafes, will be introduced in 2013.

Brahim’s has five such food and beverage outlets in Malaysia at Bangsar, the KLIA, Subang, Bandar Sunway and Setia Walk. – Bernama
