Malaysia: DNeX set to tap halal industry via eMarketplace

logoKUALA LUMPUR: Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) plans to tap the US$2.3 trillion (RM7.35 trillion) global halal industry by offering Global Halal Exchange, an eMarketplace for halal products and services.

DNeX head of business (eMarketplace) Mohd Nordin Maulut said there are more than 2,000 merchants and 10,000 products on the eMarketplace website since its launch last month.

“We have not started any transaction yet but we have received many inquiries from customers, especially those in the business segment,” he told a press conference here, yesterday.

Global Halal Exchange, which is a collaboration between DNeX and Carwin Solutions, offers accessibility and transactional ease through features and services to help create business opportunities, he added.

It also helps to develop business networks as well as broaden the understanding of the halal industry all at one site, and in real-time online environment.

Global Halal Exchange comprises two main components, namely Halal Marketplace, which is a business-to-consumer segment, and Halal Trade Centre, which is a business-to-business segment.

Carwin Solutions chief executive and co-founder Dzulfadhli Zainal Abidin said the exchange will spread its wings overseas next year.

“There is huge opportunity for us in China, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. We will try to tap those markets by participating in global halal exhibitions starting next year,” he said.

Subscription packages, which range from RM700 to RM1,700, are suited for producers, manufacturers, traders and service providers in the halal industry.
