Malaysia: Halal Certification Bodies Convention 2015

Jakim-logoPUTRAJAYA, March 28 (Bernama) — Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) will organise a convention of Halal Certification Bodies 2015 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), here on March 30, said its director-general Datuk Othman Mustapha.

He said the two-day convention themed ‘Halal Certification Bodies Enhance The Transformation Of The Global Halal Industry’ will be participated by more than 400 local and international participants.

“The convention will focus on the technical aspects as an effort to improve overseas halal certification bodies.

“It aims to enhance understanding of the overseas certification bodies on Malaysia Halal Standard system, building the ability of foreign halal certification bodies and as a platform for information and experience sharing to the newly recognised body,” he said in a statement, here Saturday.

Othman said the convention was being held in conjunction with the six-day Council of Halal World Summit from starting Monday (March 30) in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) which would also witness the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) exhibition.

Among the participants are the states’ Islamic Department; Veterinary Department, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism; Ministry of International Trade and Industry; Halal Industry Development Corporation; Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and representatives of the embassies in Malaysia, he said.
