Malaysia: HDC and EDTRIN Seal a Global Education and Training Agreement

Singapore: The Halal Industry Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (HDC) of Malaysia and EDTRIN have sealed an agreement regarding delivering education and training programs to the Gobal Halal industry.

“This strategic partnership will enhance the e-Learning and e-Training programs to the RM2.3 trillion Global Halal industry,” hdcsaid HDC’s CEO, Dato’ Seri Jamil Bidin.

Under this public-private initiative, EDTRIN and HDC will collaborate in the development and delivery of a full curriculum of Halal-related education and training to global markets. They expect this training to reach more than 1m people over the next two to three years.

The courses include Halal awareness, Halal and the food science, Halal logistics, Halal pharmaceuticals and Halal cosmetics, Halal funding, Halal innovation and entrepreneurship. The learning approach and blended curriculum are structured for the issuance of a Certificate in Halal Studies.

EDTRIN will be responsible for the development of the e-Learning and e-Training courseware for blended learning delivery to global markets and will include other languages. HDC will certify all courses delivered through the strategic collaboration.

Dato’ Seri Jamil Bidin, commented that, “There are over 1.6bn Muslims worldwide and the latest global demand for Halal education and training is immense. We estimate that there are millions of students and professionals who keen to further their understanding of Halal.”

The first course – an Introductory Awareness to Halal – will be available in December 2015, in English and Bahasa, followed by Mandarin, Japanese, French, German and Spanish.

The Introductory Awareness course will available for virtual delivery from EDTRIN’s website, at http://www.edtrin.com/halal, and a full Halal curriculum is expected be rolled out over the next 12 months.
