Introduction

This Seminar/Workshop is especially designed for those who are interested in applying Malaysia’s halal certificate, and  wanted to be recognized as Malaysia’ halal certified products, premises or services and update the understanding in the current development of Halal particularly in Malaysia.

Trainer’s Profile

HAJI WAN JOHARI BIN WAN DAUD KMN holds B.Ag.Sc. of University of Malaya,  and M.Sc. Food Science of University of Reading, UK. He started work as Food Technology Research Officer in Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI ) and later were promoted as Head of Fish Processing Station, Head of Commercialization and Advisory Branch, and lastly as Assistant Director at Food Technology Center, MARDI, Serdang.

He has been seconded to Fish Inspection Laboratory in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and as international consultant in halal food processing and auditing. Upon retiring he joined Towards Knowledge Sdn Bhd as Director and involved in halal auditing and training till to date.  He is the author of book title:“Matrade Business Handbook( 2005 ) – Exporting Halal Products”.

DR ABIDIN HAMID: He obtained his Degree in Bachelor of Food Science in 1980 from UPM and continued his studies at University of Strathclyde, Scotland and obtain his Doctorate in Bioscience and Biotechnology in 1986.

He joined MARDI in 1980 and went on early retirement in 2008.  He had served MARDI for 28 years . During his service in MARDI, he had been project leaders in many research projects in the field of Food Science and Biotechnology.

He is also actively involved in Halal matters by serving in Halal Advisory Board, JAKIM, Technical Committee in SIRIM and Selangor State Halal (JAIS)Certification Committee. Presently, his Company is involved in assisting factories to apply Halal Certificate for their products

NASRA NATURHANA BINTI AHMAD SUHAIMI earned her Bachelor Degree specializing in Food Biotechnology from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). She has also completed the Halal Executive Programme (HEP) organized by Halal Development Corporation (HDC) during which she was exposed to technical knowledge and trainings in food industry and shariah requirements pertaining to halal.

Nasra has trained in many food and beverage (F&B) services as well as food industry on food hygiene, food safety and HALAL. Among the organizations she has trained include the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, Alpha Active Industries Sdn Bhd, GCH Retail (Malaysia Sdn Bhd), Taisho Pharmaceutical Sdn Bhd, Sime Darby Jomalina Sdn Bhd, Kontena Nasional Berhad and Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd.

Nasra is a Ministry of Health accredited trainer for Food Handler, certified train the trainer (TTT) by HRDF, trainer and consultant for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and HALAL.
