Mobile app for In-flight Prayer Times Calculator

The Apple iOS application will now enable uses to calculate prayer times as well the prayer direction along their flight path on Apple iOS devices using Crescentrating.com’s web based Air Travel Prayer Times calculator launched last year.

Based on the departure airport/time and arrival airport/time the In-flight Prayer Calculator allows Muslim travelers the ability to calculate the prayer times and prayer direction along the flight path of their air journey.

The mobile application is designed as an air travel trip planner so that the users can organize the trips and flights according to the destination and access the prayer times and prayer direction in offline mode while in air. It also includes a collection of Islamic travel dua(s) (supplications) in Arabic text and audio playback along with its English translation.

“After a year of trialling our web based calculator we are now excited to release a beta version of the mobile app. There has been a lot feedback on the calculator and we have integrated those features on our mobile app. The mobile app will make it easier for Muslim travellers to make use of the calculator.” said Fazal Bahardeen, CEO of Crescentrating. “We are also planning to release the android version as well as bringing in new features in the next few months” he added.

iPhone5Since the launch last year of Crescentrating’s web based Air Travel Prayer Time Calculator hosted on its website (www.crescentrating.com), it has been used to calculator prayer times for thousands of flights.  With the availability of the mobile app, users will now be able to access prayer times and qiblah direction while in-flight. Along with the feature which allows users to set reminders for the inflight Prayer times, it will be much easier for Muslim travellers to plan their prayers while in-flight.

The app also provides links to get information on prayer facilities and halal food availability at the departure and arrival airports. Crescentrating’s website includes Muslim traveler guides for hundreds of cities around the world.

Crescentrating appoints former AirAsia and Blackberry executive Dany Bolduc as COO

DanyBolducCrescentrating, the pioneer and world leader in Halal Travel, announced Dany Bolduc, a former Blackberry and AirAsia executive, as the Chief Operating Officer of the company to steer the business in its next growth phase.

Dany is a Canadian national, having over 20 years’ experience in executive, senior management and sales leadership roles in the telecommunications, e-commerce and travel industries across North America, Europe and Asia.  Prior to Crescentrating, Dany was General Manager for AirAsia iVentures, responsible for online and retail business units and the formation of partnerships and joint ventures. He also spent 12 years at BlackBerry as Vice President for Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam and Regional Director for Asia Pacific, France and Scandinavia.

As COO, Dany will be responsible for the direction and management of the company including the efficient operation of the company’s core business, its direction and overall market strategy, revenue and growth.
