Pak companies to show value added Halal food products

Islamabad—A number of Pakistan companies showcased
their value added Halal food products in fifth Malaysia
International Hilal Showcase (MIHAS) organized in Kuala Lumpur, from
May 7 to 11, 2008. MIHAS-2008 being an international trade fair has provided a unique
opportunity to Pakistani Companies and entrepreneurs to introduce
their value added Halal food products to over 40,000 visitors from
64 countries and make long term business associations with 514
exhibitors from 26 countries.

The High Commissioner for Pakistan in Malaysia Lt. Gen (Retd) Tahir
Mahmud Qazi and Commercial counselor Majid Qureshi took round of the
MIHAS and visited the show cases of Pakistani companies.

The High Commissioner appreciated the value added products displayed
by Pakistani companies and observed that with targeted and
aggressive marketing, the Pakistan value added Halal products will
succeed in getting their rightful share in the rich Malaysian and
ASEAN region markets. Mr. Qazi advised the representatives of the
Pakistani companies to display “Halal Certification” produced by
Pakistani, Malaysian or International certificate awarding
institutions to increase the acceptability of their products in
Malaysian, ASEAN and international markets.

He also advised them to make proactive networking with the large
retail outlets in Malaysia and ASEAN region like Carrefour, Tesco,
Giant and Mydin to introduce their products to the Malaysian
consumers who have great liking and appreciation for Pakistani food
and other Halal products.

The Products displayed by the Pakistan Companies includes, cooked
Chicken Nuggets, Spring Rolls, Samosas, Burger Patties Chappattis,
Super brown Basmati Rice, Brown Sugar, Almond, Apricot Kernels, Pine
Nuts, Dried Apricot Halves, Raisons Barfi, Cham Cham, Gulab Pak and
many other such products. The High Commissioner for Pakistan
encouraged the Pakistani Companies to participate in a big way in
the coming Food and Beverages Fair to be held on July 10 & 12, 2008
and “Intrade Malaysia”, exhibition being held from November 13 to
15, 2008 in Kuala Lumpur.

These exhibitions will provide the Pakistani Companies a bigger
platform to introduce their products to Malaysian, ASEAN and world
market and interact with buyers and sellers from across the world.
The Halal sector not only include products like food,
pharmaceutical, herbal, cosmetics, health care but also covers
services such as Islamic investment and banking.—APP
