Qatar Halal Festival

The first Qatar Halal Festival will take place this week, kicking off on Thursday March 22nd.

Organised by Katara, the cultural village, the week-and-a-half long event will delve into an important part of the nation’s heritage and give an insight to the Halal animal trade.

The festival, which takes place over a 14,600 m sq will showcase a number of stables and stalls relating to the breeding of goats, sheep and other animals.

There will also be a number of activities and events for attendees to enjoy, including crafts shows, opportunities to sample traditional foods and activities aimed at children.

There will also be an animal auction and a prize giving ceremony.

President of Katara, Abdulrahman Al-Khulaifi said: “This festival honours Qatari culture and traditions which we are truly proud of, allowing us to reflect on our past to ensure a stronger future.

“This event also gives us the opportunity to promote our cultural heritage whilst sharing our legacy with the younger Qatari generation, reminding them of the importance of history. This festival contributes to our long term vision to educate, entertain and demonstrate the importance of cultural exchange.”
