Rochdale Subway goes halal

Rochdale Subway goes halal

4/10/2007

Sandwich retailer Subway has converted its popular Rochdale into a halal.

The
Rochdale store on Baillie Street will only serve its customers a range
of certified halal meats in-line with strict Muslim dietary rules,
including the banning of
all pork products.

Franchisee
Abi Adetujoye said: “I am really excited about the new development. The
other halal stores open in the UK have become very popular and
successful within their local communities. These fantastic results have inspired the Baillie Street store Halal conversion.

“The
Rochdale store will now provide the Subway chain’s Muslim customers
with a full range of Subs that are made fresh in front of them, just
the way they like them.”

The Subway chain is one of the
fastest growing retailers in the UK and Ireland and has just reached
the 1,000 store milestone and puts its success down to the increasing
popularity of the Sub as a fresh food offering.

Across
the UK and Ireland, the Subway  chain plans to open a further 1,000
outlets by 2010, creating a further 10,000 jobs with an investment of
over £100 million.
