Bandar Seri Begawan – The stage is all set for the 4th Brunei
International Halal Products Expo 2009 (ihpExpo 2009) as exhibitors
were yesterday tied down putting the finishing touch to the prestigious
four-day event, which is scheduled to be launched today by His Majesty
the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the
International Convention Centre (ICC).
Organised by the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, the
event will see the participation of government departments under the
Ministry of Industry and Primary resources, local SMEs and
international delegates.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Industry & Primary
Resources Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Hamid bin Hj Jaafar was on hand to
oversee the final preparations being made for the expo that runs until
August 2.
“This year the expo focusses on the introduction of the `Brunei
Halal Brand.’ The Sultanate has undertaken other initiatives to
strengthen its position in the ‘Halal’ market. Among them is the
establishment of a Halal Science Centre and Agrotech Park,” Dato Paduka
Hj Mohd Hamid said.
On the sidelines of the expo is an International Halal Market 2009
(IHMC) Conference to disseminate information on the development of the
global halal industry, scheduled for August 1 and 2.
