Sunlit to manage Halal Products Expo, Brunei

The ceremony appointing Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd to manage the
2009 International Halal Product Expo. – AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT,
MIPR

The Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources has appointed Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd to manage the
International Halal Products Expo (IHPE) 2009.

The signing ceremony was held yesterday morning at the Agriculture Department headquarters.

Representing MIPR was Dyg Hajah Normah Suria Hayati binti Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato
Seri Utama (Dr) Hj Awang Mohd Jamil AL-Sufri, who is also the IHPE chief organise.

Sunlit Advertising was represented by Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman.

The event was witnessed by Hajah Aidah binti Hj Mohd Hanifah, IHPE Organiser and Awg Jackson Ting
from Sunlit.

This year, the IHPE will be held at the International Convention Centre from July 30 to Aug 2.

Also present at the signing ceremony were Permanent Secretary at the MIPR Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mohd
Hamid bin Hj Mohd Jaafar; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hj Awang Mahdi bin Hj
Awg Abd Rahman; and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dato Paduka Awg Hj Abd Salam bin
Abd Momin.

The IHPE is one of MIPR’s efforts in promoting and increasing consumer products to a higher and more
quality level among local consumers.

The expo is an opportunity to introduce local products into the local market and the international level.

Besides the products and services exhibition under the halal concept, the expo acts as a platform for public
awareness in particular to the enforcement of the Halal Certificate and Label Order 2005 enforced on Aug 1,
2008 and for the implementation of the Brunei Halal label.

MIPR has cooperated with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Health in producing guidelines
and policies to ensure Brunei halal labelled products are of high quality, safe and fresh.

The halal label’s implementation is for Muslim consumers and for the market which has such required
standard.
