UAE: IFDC and Leading Fashion Institute, Esmod Announce Collaboration in iFash™

logo3Islamic Fashion and Design Council (IFDC) gets behind French fashion institute, Esmod Dubai, as they jointly announce today the introduction of the new iFash™ Programme, an Islamic/modest fashion course, the first of its kind at the prestigious design school.

In an official joint release, the following was announced:

Tamara Hostal, Founder and CEO of Esmod Dubai said: “Fashion is a continuing process of creative expression through various stimuli and references coming from many different fields such as history, art, design, architecture to name a few. Fashion has always been a reflection of social, economic, political and cultural changes. Women spontaneously react to all new trends, absorbing it into their personal style. That’s how iFash™ and modest wear, such as abayas, have become synonymous with everyday life within the Middle East and already has begun to be a global fascination mixing western influences with stylish ethnicity. Over time, abaya styles have evolved from a simple black attire used to cover the body to an elegant looking garment expressing a fashion statement. This along with other creative fusion Islamic wear has become a norm that Esmod Dubai happily supports”.

In line with H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Bin Maktoum’s decree of the strategic importance of the fashion sector and to increase local talents pool and to realize His Highness’s vision of building the Islamic economy, where this initiative falls under Islamic design, Esmod Dubai is proud to propose a new programme for iFash™ enthusiasts called, iFash™ Design – from creation to production.

Alia Khan, Founder and Chairwoman of Islamic Fashion and Design Council (IFDC) fully supports this initiative and hopes to see more. “We believe Esmod Dubai to be the perfect institution to give our support to in iFash™ initiatives” says Khan, “their courses and commitment to a better place for all industry players makes our support of them more meaningful. We are looking forward to several collaborations between IFDC and Esmod Dubai where we foresee a future that will increasingly celebrate the beauty, grace, and exciting demand of iFash™!”

iFash™ and iFashion™ are registered trademarks owned by IFDC. The iFash™ collaboration with Esmod promises more exciting initiatives to come in the near future.

“Esmod’s new iFashion™ Abaya Design course is a prime example of direct response from the education sector to regional industry demand – in this case, the growth of Halal fashion. To truly become a global leader of the Islamic economy, it is vital that we continue to strive to develop academic programmemes and high-quality training courses that promote and support this vision, encouraging ongoing partnerships with industry to bridge the gap between education and employment,”  said Dr Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director – Dubai International Academic City.

Esmod Dubai welcomes individuals to join this nine-month programme to receive formal training in fashion design as well as in tailoring. In addition to fashion-specific curriculum, the programme will help students to merge their cultural influences and today’s design trends within the abayas and fusion Islamic/modest wear.

The programme is open for registration.  For more details on the course and other fashion workshops call +971 4 429 12 28.
