Australian High Commissioner Pays Visit To Founder Of Hua Ho Dept Store

Bandar Seri Begawan – Brunei Darussalam and Australia have $1.2
billion worth of trade annually between them, including $1.1 billion in
oil.

Australia is keen to increase bilateral ties with Brunei in other fields, such as agricultural produces and halal products.

To introduce or further promote Australian products in the local
market, Mr Mark Sawers, the Australian High Commissioner to Brunei,
paid a visit yesterday to Pehin Dato Paduka Lau Ah Kok, the founder of
Hua Ho Department store, one of the largest chains of its kind in the
Sultanate.

Both discussed issues of cooperation and Pehin Dato Paduka Lau Ah
Kok also praised the quality of Australian produces as well as
education.

The High Commissioner also highlighted Australia’s excellent
achievements in the Halal market, whereby many of the country’s
products have received the needed accreditations.
In an interview
with The Bulletin, Mr Sawers said, “We are always interested to
increase our exports to Brunei, especially in fruits and vegetables.”

Highlighting the halal market, he added, “Brunei’s government has
set up an international company to promote the products and the
expansion of our relationship is also evident there.” — Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
