The first leg of the food festival kicked off from the Dubai Festival
City while the second was arranged at Ibn-e-Batoota Mall during this
week.

According to the officials, the theme of Bon Appetit is “You Are What
You Eat”, where Al Islami presents free light meals to visiting guests,
which include healthier, tastier and real halal range of products. The
most popular and oft-visited locations in this bustling city, have been
chosen for this festival by Al Islami.

The DSS and Bon Appetit food festival throws open a wide range of
mouth-watering Al Islami recipes for one and all, young and old.

Saleh Abdullah Abdullah Lootah, the chief executive officer at Al
Islami Foods said, “We are excited to launch this unique food festival
where we intend to create an awareness against bad food habits and
obesity.”

He added that, “We have been receiving very encouraging response from
the public for our anti-obesity campaigns and ones based on noble
causes such as fundraising for Gaza.”

Saleh Lootah said, “Obesity, in particular, is a growing menace and the
food sector is held responsible for creating public awareness on right
eating habits. This way we will be fulfilling our social obligation.”

During the month-long festival, guests can enjoy the huge range of Al
Islami foods including chicken nuggets, hotdogs, cutlets and chicken
popcorn, along with cold juices.

The officials told the Gulf Today that negotiations are underway to set
up such stalls in Deira City Centre and Mall of Emirates in Dubai by
way of extending the promotion to the next fortnight.

Al Islami Foods was set up as a co-operative Islami in 1981 to cater to
the growing demand for halal food in the Arab world. It came up as a
result of the relentless efforts commenced in the early seventies when
Hajj Saeed Bin Ahmad Lootah instituted the Dubai Co-operative Society.
