Canada: Halal Certified Turkey to Hit Grocery Stores this Week

turkey_big1-208x300It’s been a long time coming! Maple Leaf Consumer Foods brand, Mina Halal, is now offering zabihah by hand, Grade A, whole halal turkey through large grocery retailers like Walmart, Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Sobey’s, Metro, Food Basics, Longos, FreshCo, Adonis and T&T at select locations throughout Ontario.

The birds are set to arrive to stores late this week making it much more accessible than in the past to get halal turkey. Local halal butchers usually only get a few at a time so you risk not being able to purchase one if the demand is high — like Thanksgiving and this year, Eid-ul-Adha which falls a day after Thanksgiving.

Many Muslims are planning to serve turkey alongside their traditional Eid meal as they celebrate with family and friends over the very full, four-day weekend this October 12 – October 15.

The best part is, like all of Mina Halal products, their halal turkey is HMA certified.
