HALAL FOOD FEST TORONTO; BACK FOR A SECOND YEAR TO TEMPT YOUR TASTEBUDS!
Toronto, May 27, 2014 – With the success of last year’s Halal Food Fest surpassing over 30 000 attendees, this year’s festival promises to be even more exciting with more food and more entertaining features. On June 14 and 15, 2014, people from all over North America will be attending the largest halal food festival on the continent, Halal Food Fest 2014, at The International Centre in Mississauga.
There will be plenty of sampling showcasing various types of delectable delights to please any palate. From pasta to steak to pad Thai, there will be a plethora of options to fulfill any foodie’s craving. The popular Grill Master competition is not to be missed with amateur barbeque chefs competing to be Toronto’s best! Ongoing live stage performances such as gluten free baking; edible container gardening and health focused mocktail demonstrations will showcase a variety of health related content to reinforce this year’s theme, “Living Well”. There will also be seminars on halal food and the booming halal food industry along with workshops throughout both festival days.
As the presenting sponsor, Mina Halal is proud to be a part of this year’s event. “We are delighted to once again be the presenting sponsor at the 2nd annual Halal Food Fest Toronto. Mina is proud to support the growing needs of Muslim Canadians by ensuring that authentic Zabeeha by Hand Halal products are conveniently and readily available at our local grocery stores.” Shilo Balgobin, Marketing Manager, Mina Foods
Dairy Farmers of Canada and Redpath Sugar will also be onsite hosting interactive exhibits such as cheese tasting and various cooking demonstrations. As the festival attracts many young families, Chevrolet Canada will be on site as well providing information on child seat safety through their new program Safe & Sure.
Heightening taste buds of food fantatics, Yalla Paramount, the mobile food truck of Paramount Fine Foods, will be bringing traditional and authentic flavours of the Middle East to the two-day festival.
With Halal Food Making headlines globally, Halal Food Festival Founder Salima Jivraj believes Canada serves as an example for other countries, “recent amendments to Canadian food packaging requirements for halal food shows there is demand, and that we are evolving with this growth in a positive manner. Since last year’s festival, we’ve witnessed so many new product launches, restaurant openings and more, it’s truly inspiring.”
With Ramadan only two weeks away from the festival, The Muslim Welfare Centre will be on-site collecting non- perishable items for Project Ramadan Baskets as well as educate attendees on their other community services such as Seniors Halal Meals on Wheels and Public School Nutrition. While the focus of the Food Fest is to enjoy delicious food, we must also remember to give back in efforts to help others.
