HOLISTA Biotech Sdn Bhd, a local biotechnology company, expects to
register about RM20 million in sales this year, driven by its existing
range of products. “Holista Colltech Australia Ltd is not yet in a place to give so
significant a revenue boost to the group. (But) next year (its
contribution) should be more,” Holista Colltech chief executive officer
Datuk Dr M. Rajen told Business Times recently.


Holista Colltech is the product of a reverse takeover exercise on
Colltech Australia Ltd by Holista Biotech, which was initiated last
year. Colltech holds the patent for the process of extracting collagen
from sheepskin.

House to Strip Mandatory Halal Certification From Bill After Strong Protests

A bill
being deliberated by the House of Representatives looks set to be
stripped of contentious provisions that would have required halal
certification of consumer products by the Religious Affairs Ministry,
after strenuous protests by the business community and the Indonesian
Council of Ulema (MUI).

Speaking to the Jakarta Globe, Hilman
Rosyid, a member of Commission VIII on religious and social affairs and
deputy chairman of the special committee deliberating the bill, said
halal certification of consumer products would not be made compulsory.

Government Approve Halal Guidelines Distribution By Council of Clerics

Jakarta:
The Indonesian Council of Clerics have been given the green light to
distribute halal certification guidelines for importers located outside
Indonesia, to tackle the absence of halal certification agency, the
Coordinating Ministry for the Economy said on Thursday. However the
ministry announced that detailed explanations on the new precedure will
be issued early next week.
