Global acceptance of halal industry growing

GLOBAL acceptance
of the halal industry is growing at a feverish pace based on the keen
interest shown by local and international firms, to participate in the
Malaysia International Halal Showcase 2009 (Mihas 2009).





To be
held from May 6-10 at the Matrade Exhibition & Convention Centre
(MECC) here, about 490 firms have confirmed their participation in the
event, Mihas chief executive officer Mohd Shukri Abdullah said.

Halal brand mechanism to be revealed at IHPE 2009

A “surprise” is in store for the country’s halal industry and will only be revealed during this year’s International Halal Products Expo (IHPE), the Agriculture Department Acting Director said yesterday. This year’s expo, which will be held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas from July 30 to August 2, will focus on promoting Brunei’s halal brand in the drive to develop its halal products industry.

The Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources has appointed Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd to manage the
International Halal Products Expo (IHPE) 2009. This year, the IHPE will be held at the International Convention Centre from July 30 to Aug 2. The IHPE is one of MIPR’s efforts in promoting and increasing consumer products to a higher and more
quality level among local consumers.

World Halal Forum Returns to Malaysia

The World Halal Forum (WHF) will be returning to the Kuala
Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia for the third time and it is being
held from May 4 to 5.

With Saudi chairman of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry
of the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Countries), Dato’ Seri Sheikh Saleh
Abdullah Kamel at the helm of WHF, larger delegations from the Middle
East are expected at this year’s event.
