IIF and ‘Industry is the Future of Yemen’ Conference

“Industry is the future of Yemen” will begin in Hadramout on Monday,
said Omar Bajarsh, Chairman of the Hadramout Chamber of Commerce and
Industry. The conference will be attended by concerned bodies from the
Yemeni government, Gulf companies and representatives from Malaysia,
including the guest of honor former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr.
Mahathir Mohammad. 

Malaysian participation in this
conference will be especially important as the country was able to
successfully transform itself from a developing agricultural economy
like Yemen into an advanced industrial country.

International Islamic Fair 2008 Will Be in Yemen

The International Islamic Fair 2008 (IIF2008), will be in Al-Mukalla,
Yemen and has been merged with the “Industry-Yemen’s Future” Conference
& Exhibition in what will be the biggest Malaysian commercial
delegation to the Republic. IIF organising chairperson Madam Sabariah Abdullh said: “The decision
to move the IIF2008 to Yemen comes as a blessing in disguise as we were
invited to merge with the planned Malaysian-Yemeni event. “We have be bringing our exhibitors to join the Malaysian business
delegation led by chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in
Malaysia Ali al-Attas and will also include participation of the former
Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.


For this purpose, the IIF2008 will be brought forward to 22-23rd Dec
(from 23-25th Dec.) but will still include a trip to Dubai on 24 Dec.
for business matching.

Dirs800m Worth of Halal Food Products Exported from Iran

Some dlrs 800 million worth of halal food products were exported
abroad from the Islamic Republic of Iran during March 2007-March 2008
period, an official said. Head of Iran’s Food Industries Union, Mohammad Hosseini, said
that over 150 companies are active in producing Halal food products
across the country. Hosseini also referred to the first International Halal Food Exhibition to be held in Tehran in February 2009.

Two Malaysian companies who produce Halal medical products will become the
first companies to start operations at the Penang Halal Industrial Park
next year.

Chief
Minister Lim Guan Eng said that Halagel (M) Sdn Bhd, producer of Halal
gelatine for pharmacies, and GranuLab (M) Sdn Bhd, a producer of
synthetic bone graft material, had agreed to build their factories in
the park which is located in Bukit Minyak, Seberang Perai.

through “petro money” from Middle East investors. Its
