China: Xi’an Int’l Halal Food & Trade Expo concludes successfully

October 31, 2017 – The inaugural Xi’an International Halal Food & Trade Expo (XIHE) 2017 was successfully concluded at the Xi’an Greenland Pico International Conference & Exhibition Center today.

The three-day exhibition was graced by the presence of Senator Tan Sri Dr. Haji Mohd Ali Bin Mohd Rustam, President of Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) and former Chief Minister of Malacca, Malaysia; Ustaz Mohamad Hasbi Bin Hassan, President of the Singapore Islamic Scholars & Religious Teachers Association and Chairman of PERGAS Investments Holding, and Al-Haaji Yehya Mosaa Ma Guiping, Secretary- General of Xi’an Islamic Association, amongst others.

The Official Opening on 26 Oct 2017 also marked the soft launch of PureGoodHoldings DMDI Halal Trade Offices that span 23 countries, as well as the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) between Pure and Good and their stakeholders.

This was followed by the presentation of a Certificate of Appointment to Mr Zuraimi Jumaat, as a Board Advisor for the International Halal Business Certification Committee of Wu Zhong Halal Food Business Association. Delegates from all over the world, including ASEAN, Dubai, China and Japan witnessed the ceremony.

The concurrent Xi’an International Halal Food & Trade Conference commenced with Ms Snow Xia, Director of Pure and Good China, Mr Koshi Toyama, Chief Executive Officer of Pure and Good Japan Co. and Mr Ossama Emam, Marketing Manager of RACS Quality Certificate Issuing Services sharing their valuable insights into the potential of China, Japan and Middle-East’s Halal markets respectively.

Mr A.B. Teoh, Import and Export Consultant, veteran consultant to MATRADE of Malaysia, also introduced his “The 12 Steps®” model on the systematic approach to exporting with a focus on the ASEAN region. The day wrapped up with a networking reception attended by all the overseas guests and local VIPs who mingled with the 50 exhibitors from more than 10 countries.

On the second day, Mr Zuraimi Jumaat, Director of Halal Compliance International Strategic Alliance, Ms Elvina Rahayu, Deputy Head of Certification Body under Integrated Laboratory, Bogor Agriculture University, Professor Dr Irwandi Jaswir of International Islamic University Malaysia and Dr Nur Rahman of Brunei Halal providing in-depth analyses into the potential Halal markets in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei and their requirements. Trade visitors and buyers were also seen browsing and sampling delicacies from the various exhibitors’ booths at the expo.

Later in the day, the Halal industry veterans came together for a panel discussion, where issues, trends and challenges related to the development of the global Halal industry was discussed at length. The conference concluded with a closing ceremony, where tokens of appreciation were conferred upon the distinguished international speakers.

According to a spokesman from Pure and Good, over RMB 1 million in business transactions were made over the three-day exhibition.

Located in North West China, Xi’an is connected to other Muslims residing in Xinjiang, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Liaoning. In addition, the One Belt One Road (OBOR) stretches from Xi’an through the Muslim-majority Middle East.
