The 24th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial
Cooperation (COMSEC) of the Organization of the Islamic Conference(OIC)
that was held in Istanbul, Turkey from 20 to 24 October 2008. In
addition to trade and investment among the member states, economical
cooperation strateg, solutions to combat poverty and stagnation, the
specification of the criterions in Halal food in Islamic countries were
issues of the discussion…

Turkey reported, that prepared some
drafts to offer to experts sessions in Jeddah on February 2009. Then
with cooperation of Islamic Chamber this issue will discuss and the
final result will present in the next session of the committee (COMSEC)
on October 2009 so it is possible to recommend an equal criterions in
Halal food subject.

In this session three members of the board of directors were present and
they presented done activities in ICRIC in this direction to the head
of the committee and some of the participants’ members from different
countries. Engineer Salimi, a member of the board of directors of ICRIC
informed ICRIC’s experiences about common Halal criterions and
recommended the host country from redo in this filed and express ICRIC’s
readiness to share all its experiences to the member states.

Meanwhile, ICRIC believes that the movement of the Halal Brand and
Certificates should be a humanity movement not a governmental organ
which faces with political interests and bureaucratic process.
