Kathmandu, Nepal / Neu-Isenburg, Germany – Soaltee Crowne Plaza Kathmandu and LSG Sky Chefs officially announce the recent Halal certification of their airline catering facility near Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM). The facility is operated by Soaltee Crowne Plaza, the country’s premier deluxe hotel, with technical know-how and management services provided by LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest supplier of in-flight services.

The facility was certified as a Halal compliant flight kitchen last December by Abdul Aziz Mohamad, Chairman of the LSG Sky Chefs Brahim Halal Excellence Center, after meeting all of the strict Halal production requirements. It was designed under the guidance and support of the Halal Excellence Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Speaking on the occasion of the certification, Vini K. Gupta, General Manager Soaltee Crowne Plaza said, “We are delighted to have obtained the one-hundred percent Halal Compliance Certificate from a global institution recognized for its quality and service standards. This certification is a true reflection of the hard work and service excellence provided by our team. We are also working very closely with our suppliers to ensure that the quality and standards of our materials meet and exceed the required specifications. We are confident that these efforts will contribute positively towards providing better service to our airline partners in future.”

“We are very proud that our business in Kathmandu has been certified,” said Mark Northmore, LSG Sky Chefs’ General Manager Thailand and Myanmar. “We thank our partner Soaltee Crowne Plaza for their dedication to delivering authentic Halal meals to passengers flying out of Kathmandu.”

The facility produces some 1800 total airline meals per day for a number of international customers like Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, Etihad Airways, Dragon Air, China Southern Airlines, GMG Airlines and national carrier Nepal Airlines. They also service VIP flights, regular charter flights and UN charter flights carrying Nepalese troops to peacekeeping missions around the world.
