Halal Exchange Sets Up Office In KL

KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) — vLinx UAE Inc, the operator of Halal
Exchange, has opened its office here to help Malaysian exporters access
the global halal markets.

In a statement here Friday, vLinx said the exchange’s primary goal
was to improve halal supply chain efficiencies, standardise sourcing
and e-procurement processes and increase the visibility or branding of
Malaysian halal suppliers internationally.

Halal Exchange is a global trade platform designed and built for
the halal industry to provide businesses with opportunities to reduce
selling costs, increase speed-to-market and provide access to buyers.

Chairman/chief executive officer, Kombiz Eghdami, said Malaysia
has the potential to become global hub for trade in halal products as
it had all the necessary key drivers in place to spur the growth of its
local halal Industry.

“However the halal industry here is dominated by small medium
enterprises (SMEs) who are currently responsible for nearly 80 percent
of the global halal transactions. Unfortunately, less than 10 percent
of Malaysian SMEs utilised e-commerce business practices.

“We believe business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce can bring speed
and efficiency to Malaysia’s halal industry in a way that is truly
revolutionary.

“The ability to communicate electronically allows Malaysian
suppliers to be competitive in the global marketplace at a time when
new markets and new global competitors are coming in line,” he said.

He said Halal Exchange has forged strategic alliance with Malaysia
External Trade Development Corp to be the technology partner and online
global showcase for the Malaysia International Halal Showcase 2008.

“This private-government alliance aims to promote the importance
of having a global e-commerce exchange in place to enable Malaysian
exporters to enter world markets,” he said.
