Malaysia: HALFEST ASEAN 2017

HALAL TRADE TO DRIVE HIGH-INCOME ECONOMY IN ASEAN THROUGH HALFEST ASEAN 2017

Malaysia and ASEAN Halal industry players now have the perfect platform to be competitive, progressive, and sustainable by helping them expand their business network through intra-state trading and ASEAN exports.

This opportunity has presented itself with the return of HALFEST ASEAN, back for its sixth edition at the MINES Exhibition Centre (MIECC), Kuala Lumpur, from August 23, Wednesday to 27, Sunday this year.

With this year’s theme of “High-Income Economy through ASEAN Cross-Border Halal Trade”, the event offers exhibitors the opportunity to meet business owners, suppliers, and buyers from Malaysia and the ASEAN region and thereafter to expand their trade networks beyond their locality to across Malaysia and then to ASEAN countries.

One of the main attractions of this year’s expo is the inaugural TRADE MATCHING PROGRAMME, brought to you by the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC). Here, all HALFEST ASEAN exhibitors will have the opportunity to exclusively meet and trade with specially invited trade buyers from ASEAN countries and throughout Malaysia.

Organised by the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), HALFEST ASEAN 2017 will feature more than 500 exhibitors at 550 booths, showcasing up to 5,500 innovative and quality halal products and services over five days. This expo is set to become the Largest ASEAN Halal Trade and Consumer Expo, serving over 240 million ready consumers in this region.

This year’s event aims to follow in the footsteps of past years’ editions, particular the highly successful HALFEST 2016, which saw 412 halal companies occupying 515 booths, a total of 82,782 trade and public visitors, media and PR value reaching RM7.710 million, and immediate generated sales value of RM3.743 million for participating entrepreneurs.

HALFEST ASEAN 2017 will not only serve as a gateway to the Malaysian market, but more importantly as a platform for entrepreneurs to tap into the larger Muslim consumer market of ASEAN countries.

There will also be exhibitors from countries such as Indonesia, Iran, Syria, Kazakhstan and many more. The sectors featured at HALFEST ASEAN include food and beverages (F&B); pharmaceuticals cosmetics and personal care; herbal products and ingredients; hotels, restaurants, bakeries and franchises; Islamic banking, takaful and investment; logistics, halal product development agencies; Islamic Hospitality and Tourism; Islamic publication, Islamic art and craft, modest fashion, and government agencies.

Among other sub-events to be held during this year’s expo are the:

  • POCKET TALKS, by JAKIM, HDC, HALADEEN, EXIM Bank of Malaysia, Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM), Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), SIRIM and many more;

HALFEST ASEAN 2017 is hosted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI), organised by the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), the Halal industry promotions authority in Malaysia, in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), with the support of the Malaysia Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMM) and the Muslim Consumers’ Association of Malaysia (PPIM) as well as managed by SHAPERS Malaysia Sdn Bhd as the HALFEST ASEAN Secretariat.
