Malaysia: HDC to provide halal programme for int’l universities

KUALA LUMPUR: Halal Development Council (HDC) will be collaborating with international universities, namely Wellington University, New Zealand and University of Maryland to provide halal executive training programme.

Wellington University will be starting its first programme in August this year.

HDC’s halal executive training programmes are prepared for industry players, general public and students.

It covers basic principles and best practices applied at every level of the industry.

“Institution of higher learnings are interested to be part of this training programme, aware of the new growth area in halal industry,” HDC chief executive officer Datuk Seri Jamil Bidin said here.

Yesterday, 65 students of the food and science faculty and hospitality faculty from six polytechnics nationwide graduated from HDC pilot training programme.

The students underwent a six-month training, comprising three-month theory classes and three-month industry attachment assignments in collaboration with Institut Keusahawanan Negara and the Polytechnic Division of Ministry of Higher Education.

They received certificate from Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapha Mohamed.
