KUALA LUMPUR : Consumers can now find Halal food premises and confirm the Halal certificate status of products through smartphone applications.
‘Halal Square’ and ‘Halal Inside’ applications are the result of a smart collaboration between the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and Malaysia Microelectronic Solutions Sdn Bhd (My-MS).
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said the application will display the halal status of the company, products, food premises, and menus that are listed on the JAKIM directory, complete with the Halal certificate’s expiry date.
Jamil Khir who was met after launching the application here, today said the application was available free for all smart phone users with Android, ios and Windows Phone 8.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer for My-MS Sdn Bhd Shafiq Akmal Ismail said the Halal Square application was based on near field communication technology and geo location technology which enables consumers to locate halal certified food premises all over the world.
Halal Inside application is for consumers to get updated status of Halal food products and it comes with real time where consumers can interact with other users.
