Malaysia, New Zealand Ink Agreement On Halal Certification

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 13 (Bernama) — Malaysia and New Zealand today inked an agreement on halal certification for meat and meat products to exported from New Zealand to Malaysia.

Veterinary Services Department director-general Datuk Dr Abd Aziz Jamaluddin said with the signing of the Malaysia Meat and Meat Products Halal Requirements (Overseas Market Access Notification) Notice 2010, Malaysians need no longer worry about the halal status of meat and dairy products from New Zealand.

He told this to reporters after the sigining of the agreement on Monday.

Also present were New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Malaysia David Kersey, New Zealand’s Food Safety Authority director-general Wayne MacNee and Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) Halal Hub director Zainal Abidin Jaffar.
