KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 (Bernama) — Over 500 foreign buyers are expected to come for the 8th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas 2011) that will be held on April 6-9 here.

For the exhibitors, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Noharuddin Nordin said they had gone through a strict selection process to ensure the event remain as the world’s premier exhibition of halal products.

“We give priority to quality and the companies’ readiness to export their products to the international market,” he said at a luncheon with media practitioners here on Wednesday.

“We need to be careful in selecting the companies because we don’t want Mihas seen to be of the same standard as other consumer exhibition because Mihas’ role is more toward business-to-business,” he said.

Mihas 2011 will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and is scheduled to be opened by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
