Malaysia: The Sixth China International Halal Food and Muslim Products Show (CIHAS 2011)

KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 (Bernama) — The Sixth China International Halal Food and Muslim Products Show (CIHAS 2011), to be held in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from Sept 19-23, is expected to attract over 10,000 buyers and more than 400 exhibitors.

In a statement Tuesday, the organising committee said the halal show was positioned as an international trade-show providing a unique business platform to showcase halal food, Muslim products and Islamic services catering to the fast-growing global market.

“Realising the vast potential of halal food industry, China’s Ministry of Commerce has decided to upgrade the traditional halal show from a consumer fair to a professional trade show,” it said.

It said CIHAS 2011 has also been placed under the high-profiled platform of China-Arab States Expo, which would also be held during the halal show.

China, considered as a fast emerging source for the halal food sector, has an estimated Muslim market of about 150 million.
