Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), the
international marketing arm of Australian meat producers, has appointed
Mr. Lachlan Bowtell to the post of Regional Manager Middle East &
North Africa with the responsibility to maintain and increase the
Australian meat and livestock industries’ leading market positions
across the GCC, the Levant, Egypt and the Maghreb countries.

“The region is home to some of the most lucrative MLA markets with
the UAE and Saudi Arabia topping many categories in terms of regional
sales,” said Mr. Bowtell. “Australian meat and livestock is revered
across the region for its nutritional value, halal attributes, food
safety protocols and unsurpassed taste, texture and quality and our job
at MLA is to ensure that all our customers in the region always make an
informed choice about the meat and livestock they select, for whatever
purpose.  It is an absolute privilege to be able to work in a region
that is experiencing such growth and the challenges this brings”, he
added.

Mr. Bowtell brings with him significant and diverse
MLA experience since his first position at the company’s predecessor
commenced  in 1995, fresh from a sales and marketing role in the
seafood industry and prior to that, toiling away in some of the finest
restaurants and kitchens in Australian hotels as a highly sought after
chef. Mr. Bowtell’s previous role in MLA Australia was that of
Marketing Manager where he oversaw many ground-breaking marketing and
business development programs across both the retail and foodservice
markets that have made significant contributions to the growth of this
important agricultural sector.  After 15 years representing the
Australian Beef and Sheep producers and processors at all levels in the
Australian market, he now comes to the Middle East North African region
to assist in further developing this vital market for the Australian
industry.

Lachlan is a passionate ambassador for the Australian red meat and
livestock industry and is a frequent key note speaker at many trade
events in Australia and overseas on food trends and marketing.
