Pakistan, Malaysia To Promote Halal Business
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 (Bernama) — Two memoranda of understanding (MoU)
to promote the halal business have been signed between Malaysian and
Pakistani companies.
The first MoU was signed between Shezan International Ltd of
Pakistan and Car N Co Sdn Bhd of Malaysia.The second is between Zenith
Associates of Pakistan and Malaysia’s Jetak Bakat Sdn Bhd.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner for Malaysia Lt Gen (retd) Tahir
Mahmud Qazi said the MoUs would facilitate the promotion and expansion
in the volume of halal business between both countries.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Minister for Agriculture
and Agro-based Industries Datuk Noh Omar and the Chief Minister of
Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, in Lahore on Dec 15.
Noh was on a four-day official visit to Pakistan from Dec 14.
Shezan International will export to Malaysia its high quality
fruit-based consumer products with Car N Co as the exclusive
distributor in the country.
Zenith meanwhile, will export its certified halal products,
including beef carcasses and beef meat cuts, goat carcass and meat cuts
and mutton carcass and meat cuts.
Jetak Bakat will be the sole distributor in Malaysia for the
distribution for all the products and those brands related or produced
by Zenith or its subsidiaries and associates.
Pakistan and Malaysia have also agreed to enhance bilateral
cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock and horticulture,
and a joint working group would be established to work on it.
