LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Feb, 2018 ): Punjab Halal Development Agency (PHDA) has initiated a training programme for Lahore-based butchers working in poultry industry. In the first phase, the PHDA will train 500 butchers in collaboration with Local Government and their Community Development Department, Punjab and M/s Meate.

The purpose of the training is to provide practical knowledge and on hand training to the Lahore based butchers to perform slaughtering as per Shariah standards to keep meat safe and healthy for human consumption.

This was stated by Chairman PHDA, Justice (R) Khalil-ur-Rehman while inaugurating the first phase adding that this training would provide the practical knowledge to the butchers about Halal slaughtering standards and scientific benefits of Shariah principles of animal slaughtering.

He further said that the PHDA would issue a license to trained butchers to work in the market after the completion of training programme. Only licensed butchers will be allowed to work legally. The PHDA has already conducted a butchers’ training programme to those who were working in the state slaughter houses across Punjab in collaboration with USAID.
