The Ministry of Public Health has amended the list of Islamic associations approved to issue Halal certification and Halal slaughterhouses in the countries exporting to Qatar.
The new list has included Australian Halal Development and Accreditation (AHDAA) to approve associations in Australia, increasing the number of approved centres in Australia to eight.
The amendment was made after the organisation provided all the documents to prove their credibility and accuracy in procedures.
Organisations are added or removed from the list based on specific controls set by Joint Human Food Control Committee in 2015. By now, some 75 associations in 46 countries round the world are included in the list.
These organisations help provide greater choice for traders and importers, especially in countries that supply large quantities of meat to Qatar.
