Preparations for the hosting of the ‘Halal Conference & Exhibition’ slated next year in Doha are “on track,” according to an official of Qatar Chamber.

This was raised by Qatar Chamber board member Dr Mohamed Jawhar al-Mohamed on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) High-Level Public and Private Investment Conference held recently in Istanbul, Turkey.

Al-Mohamed also held a meeting with Yousef Khalawi, the general secretary of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, where they reviewed ways to enhance co-operation between both institutions regarding next year’s Halal expo, which will be hosted by Qatar Chamber.

The conference in Istanbul, which saw the participation of 1,200 economic experts from 56 countries, was inaugurated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The event discussed ways to eradicate obstacles hindering the increase of investments among OIC member states, and ways to encourage investments within the organisation, as well as efforts to streamline doing business in the region.

The conference also focused on several economic sectors, such as agriculture, mining, transport, infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, financial services, hospitality, tourism, textiles, and renewable energy.
