Saudi Arabia: Experts to discuss Halal food at conference in Riyadh Sunday

RIYADH – King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, will patronize here Sunday the first global conference on Halal food.
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority will hold Saturday a press conference to talk about the event, in which over 60 speakers including Shariah scholars and food science experts will participate.
Ninety work papers from different countries will be discussed. About 500 professionals and 67 companies from related fields are participating in the event.
The conference will put an emphasis on the role of the Kingdom in serving Islam and Muslims and its responsibility towards addressing the issues of the Muslim world. Halal food is a pressing issue Muslims around the world face in modern times.
The conference will come up with recommendations on the best ways to monitor food, lay down Halal food requirements, and seek to foster trade relations between participating countries.
