Showcase Bangladesh To Woo Malaysian Investors

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16
(Bernama) — Showcase Bangladesh 2010, which will be held on Jan 8-10
at the Putra World Trade Centre here, aims to promote and project
Bangladesh’s image, heritage and culture in Malaysia.

The event will be jointly organised by Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber
of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) and Bangladesh High Commission in
Malaysia.

BMCCI’s secretary general, Syed Moazzam Hossain, said the
organisers aimed to introduce Bangladeshi products and services to
potential buyers and importers in this country.

“The event will also help further develop the existing bilateral
relationships as the two countries shared a common bond of religion,
history and culture,” he told a media briefing here Friday.

In conjunction with the event, a documentary film to promote
Bangladesh and Malaysia as development partners would also be made, he
said.

He said business seminars would also be held.

Syed Moazzam said among the products to be displayed were ceramic
tableware, cosmetics and toiletries, halal foods including frozen foods
and allied products, leather products, pharmaceuticals as well as
herbal and Ayurvedic products.

He said 65 companies were expected to participate in the showcase.

Malaysia is the fifth largest investors in Bangladesh with investment of over US$1.337 billion (US$1=RM3.32).

In 2008, it exported US$450 million worth of products to Bangladesh and imported US$24 million.
